Combining Funk Amateur D-Star kit BX-192 and Storno CQM5000.
I bought a D-Star kit at Funk Amateur OnLine Shop in Germany.
The kit comes with all parts, except plugs, powersupply and box, at a cost of Euro 295.-, ex freight.
All SMD components are factorymounted, so You only have to place and solder leaded components.
Included in the kit is an original ICOM-module UT-118.
Software is written by Satoshi Yasuda and is delivered in a precoded PIC16F877A.
It took aprox. 2 hours to solder, and by attaching power the display at once showed start message.
My program is in German language, and are other versions can be ordered, including English.
The kit are tested together with several amateur transceivers with 9k6-packet connector,
and the manual describes settings and jumpers for Kenwood, Icom, Yaesu and Standard, and for
a modified Siemens mobile phone C5.
Audio input to the DV adaptor is connected direct to the FM-detector, before squelsch and filters.
On the board is a loudspeaker amplifier, but I use the Storno loudspeaker amplifier and load speaker,
and I connented a wire from the volumecontrol on the adaptor to the volumecontrol in the Storno.
The connection between the detector and the volumecontrol in the Storno is cut, see drawing below :
After some testing with jumpers and adjustments perfect DV-sound was heard, and the display showed the
expected informations and a few more, the meaning of which I have not yet figured out (DNDN og Nicht).
I then used an old Skype-headset as microphone, and connected it to the microphone input on the adaptor,
and the adaptor TX audio output connected direct to the FM modulatorstage in the Storno transceiver.
But it would not work correct, and a couple of hours went, trying different jumpers and adjustments,
and at last my 2820 could recognize the transmission from the Storno as a DV-signal.
It was necessary to increase the size of the transfer capacitor in the adaptor, to get modulation correct.
I decided to use the microphone and microphone circuits in the Storno, and used some time to get the levels OK.
